London and Shanghai predicted flooding

London, Shanghai, Houston and some other megalopolises may be flooded due to global warming. Such a conclusion is contained in the report of the organization "Christian Aid".

According to experts, the sea level can rise by more than 40 centimeters, if the temperature rises 1.5 degrees above the pre-industrial level. Climate change will only exacerbate existing problems, such as subsidence, landslides, the effects of water intake and poor disaster response planning.
Experts added that the authorities in London increasingly have to resort to basic flood protection - the Thames Barrier. This dam was built in 1984, then it was assumed that it will not be used more often three times a year. However, currently the barrier is raised up to seven times a year.
In addition to London, flooding threatens American Houston, which has already “sunk” three meters and in which the soil continues to settle down year after year. Also at risk are Manila, Jakarta, Lagos, Dhaka and Shanghai.
