“We are fighting for freedom, we are fighting for democracy. We very much appreciate the solid and reliable position shown by our partners from the United States and NATO. We do not ask Russia what we should do on our land,” he wrote.
Also in the video attached to the post, Poroshenko stated that the Ukrainian soldiers could teach the NATO military much because they "fight in the conditions of the Russian hybrid war"
Aviation exercises "Clear Sky - 2018" are held in Khmelnitsky region from 8 to 19 October. Members of NATO also participate in the maneuvers: Belgium, Great Britain, Denmark, Estonia, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania and the USA.
During the exercises, the Ukrainian leader has already made loud statements. In particular, Poroshenko ordered to open fire in the Donbass "to save lives". He also noted that "you need to be ready for any scenarios: both for defense and for an effective counteroffensive."
Relations between Moscow and Kiev deteriorated sharply after the coup in Ukraine, the return of the Crimea to Russia and the beginning of the conflict in the Donbas. So, in January 2015, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a statement in which Russia is called the "aggressor country."
Kiev has repeatedly accused Moscow of interfering in Ukraine’s affairs, in particular of participating in the conflict in the south-east of the country, conducting a “hybrid war”, espionage, and cyber attacks. Russia denies the charges and calls inappropriate. Moscow has repeatedly stated that it is not a party to the internal Ukrainian conflict and is interested in Kiev overcoming the political and economic crisis.
