The United
States is actively engaged in the development of hypersonic weapons,
which will go into service earlier than expected, US Deputy Secretary of
Defense Patrick Shanahan said at a meeting with a group of journalists.
"We're
going to start flying (launching missiles) earlier and more often than
people expected from us," Shanakhan told a small group of reporters,
adding that the US approach to developing hypersonic weapons will be
included in requests for future defense budgets.
Currently, the defense ministry is calculating how much money is needed for this.
In
early September, US Deputy Secretary of Defense for Research Michael
Griffin stated that the Pentagon needed no more than $ 20 billion to
develop hypersonic weapons, similar to samples being developed in the
PRC.
Earlier
in his message to the Federal Assembly, President Vladimir Putin
presented the newest types of Russian weapons, which have no analogues
in the world. These
are the Sarmat missile system, submarine drones, a cruise missile with a
nuclear power plant, the Dagger aircraft missile system, a laser and
hypersonic weapon.
