In Egypt, a Russian-made MiG-29M fighter crashed while performing a training flight, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the KLA press service. The Egyptian Air Force received it in 2018.
“We have operational information about the MiG-29M crash of the Egyptian Air Force. In the near future, our technical experts will go to Egypt to assist in the investigation of the incident, ”the corporation said.


Earlier on the crash, citing sources reported "Kommersant". The source said that the cause of the incident could be either technical problems (failure of the control system) or pilot error. The pilot himself managed to eject before the disaster. The investigation of the incident will lead a special commission of the Egyptian Air Force.
Moscow and Cairo signed a package of contracts in the military-technical sphere worth approximately $ 3.5 billion in 2014. Within the framework of the contract, deliveries to the Russian air defense systems, artillery, small arms, as well as aviation should be made to Egypt. The first MiG-29M fighters entered Egypt in April 2018. In accordance with the plan, Cairo should receive 46 such machines.
