Foreign investors will invest $ 40 billion in the Russian economy

Foreign investors are going to invest 40 billion rubles in the Russian economy. It is planned to do this in the next 5-7 years, the newspaper "Izvestia" informs.
According to the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kirill Dmitriev, mainly the funds will be invested by investment corporations from China and Korea, sovereign funds of Saudi Arabia and Qatar, as well as a port operator from the UAE.
He stressed that 40 percent of the allocated money will be invested in railways, highways, ports and airports, another 25 percent - in technology.
Experts at the same time expressed doubt that the projects will be long-term. As they note, foreigners are reluctant to invest in assets with a long payback period due to the volatile geopolitical situation.
Earlier, a global survey of the audit and consulting group EY showed that 84 percent of owners of Russian companies are ready to give up their shares of assets. 32 percent of investors are ready to invest in new projects.
As the head of the practice of consulting services for transactions in the CIS, Alexei Ivanov, said, 33 percent of respondents in Russia are ready to sell inefficient assets, and 51 percent get rid of those that could lead to the cessation of activities. The study was conducted in the spring of 2018 and coincided with the April round of US sanctions against big Russian business. It was attended by 60 heads of Russian companies from 14 sectors of the economy.
