In London, the most large-scale, according to the organizers, march on the issue of British exit from the EU took place. Its participants demanded that the local authorities hold another referendum on the “Brexit final deal,” reports the BBC. Earlier, a similar vote was excluded by the country's Prime Minister Teresa May.
The marchers, as the television station indicates, marched from Hyde Park to London Parliament Square. In
their hands they carried posters and banners with slogans "Breaks"
(from English break - break, destroy), "Brexit steals my future" and
others. There were many young families, some of them came with children, indicates the BBC.
The
event was organized by members of the People's Vote campaign, who are
calling for a public vote on the final deal between the United Kingdom
and the European Union. According to the organizers, 700 thousand people took part in the action. Among them, as the BBC notes, there were also several members of the British Parliament who are in favor of a new referendum.
In Scotland Yard, commenting on the scale of the rally, said that so far "could not assess the size of the crowd."
Actions against Brexit were held in London before. So,
in September 2017, several tens of thousands of people came out in the
center of the British capital, who demanded to reconsider the results of
the referendum in June 2016.
During the vote, most of the inhabitants of London opposed the exit of the UK from the European Union. However,
the success of Brexit guaranteed a vote in most of the rest of the
counties of England, where local residents opposed EU membership.
