The
Austrian edition of Contra Magazin believes that the new government of
Italy may require the European Union to restructure the country's debt. If this happens, the EU could fall apart, analysts say.
The
publication noted that Interior Minister Matteo Salvini and Minister of
Economic Development Luigi Di Mayo insist on independence of the
country from Brussels, reports Nation News. They have already prepared a new draft budget, according to which the country will be reduced taxes and universal income. Analysts
emphasize that such measures could lead to a budget deficit in Italy
and eventually to the collapse of the European Union.
Italy's national debt exceeds two trillion euros, according to RIA Novosti. In
addition, the country has about a trillion euros of debt on the Target2
system (an interbank payment system that allows for real-time
international payments within the European Union), and the banking
system is in crisis.
