The cause of the
crash of the MiG-29 fighter near the Zhukovsky airfield in the Moscow
region was a fire near one of the engines.
A
fire near one of the engines caused the crash of the MiG-29 fighter in
the Kolomna district of the Moscow region, Interfax reported, citing a
source familiar with the situation.
"During the flight in the area of one of the two engines there was a fire"
The plane belonged to the Gromov Flight Research Institute. According
to preliminary data of the United Aircraft Building Corporation (UAC),
during the training flight, the control system went berserk.
The pilots took the plane to a deserted place, and then ejected. Both pilots are alive, however, according to TASS, one of them was injured. There are no casualties on the earth.
Official versions of the causes of the incident have not yet been announced. The UAC said that a special commission will be formed to investigate the crash.
