According to the United States, Russia continues to work on the creation of a ground-based cruise missile system in violation of the 1988 treaty.
In her statement, Hutchinson noted that the United States would take all possible countermeasures if Russia tried to use missiles that could strike Alaska or European countries.
Russia’s breach of the treaty banning this type of missile was discussed in last year’s US Department of State report. As a preventive measure, the White House declared that America would create its own system if Moscow continued to continue to violate the treaty.
Accusations of the two countries in violation of the treaty on the ban on INFs are not the first year. In May, Sergei Ryzhkov, head of the National Center for the Reduction of Nuclear Danger, announced that the United States was using a new type of missile that mimics the operation of medium and short-range projectiles, which is prohibited by the signed INF Treaty.
