US fabricated charges against Chinese citizen, said in Beijing

The US charges against a Chinese citizen, who was extradited from Belgium at the request of Washington on charges of economic espionage, were completely fabricated, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Lu Kahn at a briefing on Thursday.
"We paid attention to these messages, the relevant US charges were completely fabricated. We hope that the US will fairly deal with this situation in accordance with the law and ensure respect for the legal rights and interests of a Chinese citizen," the diplomat said.
It became known earlier that Belgium had extradited an employee of the Ministry of Homeland Security of the PRC to the United States; Xu Yanjun, also known as Qiu Hui and Zhang Hui, is accused of conspiring to commit economic espionage and theft of trade secrets from a number of US companies involved in the space and aviation industry.
The defendant was extradited on Tuesday from Belgium, where he was arrested in April at the request of the United States. His case will be considered a court in Ohio.
