NATO fighters took off because of Russian bombers

British fighters took to the air over Scotland because of Russian bombers flying nearby. Reports about it RT.
Two Russian supersonic Tu-160 bomber conducted training flights off the coast of Norway in the Barents and Norwegian Seas. This caused concern to NATO, since the alliance’s forces are currently participating in the Trident Juncture 2018 exercises in Norway.
According to the Ministry of Defense of Russia, the maneuvers of Russian bombers forced Britain to lift their fighters into the air because of fears that the Tu-160 might head south towards the kingdom.

It is noted that the Russian authorities notified the NATO command about the conduct of flights.
Earlier it was reported that two Tu-160s would make a 10-hour flight over the neutral waters of the Barents and Norwegian Seas.
On October 31, the active phase of the NATO Trident Juncture 2018 (United Trident 2018) strategic exercises began in Norway. About 50 thousand troops, 250 aircraft, 65 ships and 10 thousand units of military equipment from 29 member countries of the alliance, as well as Sweden and Finland, take part in them. These are the largest maneuvers on NATO’s northern flank after the end of the Cold War.
