Russia was called the wildest country in the world

The experts of the British scientific journal Nature have compiled a rating of the most “wild” countries, in most of whose territory untouched nature has been preserved. The full list is published on the official page of the publication.
According to the study, Russia was in the first place. On its territory is located more than 15 million square kilometers of wildlife, of which half are reservoirs. Canada ranked second in the rankings, where wilderness covers approximately 10 million square kilometers. In third place was Australia with three million square kilometers of virgin land.

The list of leaders also included the USA and Brazil. According to Nature, 70 percent of the world's wildlife is located in these five countries.

In addition, scientists noted that currently 77 percent of the earth (with the exception of Antarctica) and 87 percent of the ocean have been subject to human intervention.
In October, experts from the Australian publisher Lonely Planet named the 10 most scenic railway routes. Among them was the Russian Baikal-Amur Mainline, which stretches for 4.3 thousand kilometers across the Siberian desert.
