In Germany, talked about the importance of the "Nord Stream - 2"

The prime minister of the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Manuela Schwezig, called the construction of the Nord Stream 2 a “right decision” for Germany, this is stated in her article for Wirtschaftswoche magazine.
“Nord Stream 2” is important for Germany, since “an additional source of gas is needed for reliable energy supply,” Schwezig said.
At the same time, the prime minister criticized the opponents of the gas pipeline construction, noting that "some critics are pursuing their own economic interests."
She also called "nonsense" allegations that because of the gas pipeline, Germany would fall into complete dependence on Russia. "Both sides are interested in reliable supplies. And Germany will continue to receive most of the required energy from other sources. The country should decide for itself where and by what means it takes the necessary energy sources," said the author of the article.
At the same time, Schwezig expressed confidence that "Germany and Russia have common interests in order to return to a close partnership again."
Earlier, the chairman of the board of the German-Russian Forum, Mattias Platzek, expressed the opinion that the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project could be key for relations between the two countries.
The Nord Stream - 2 project envisages the construction of two gas pipeline lines with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the coast of Russia through the Baltic Sea to Germany. A new pipeline is planned to be built next to the existing Nord Stream.

Several countries are opposed to the project, in particular, Ukraine. In Kiev, they fear losing profits from the transit of Russian gas to Europe. The United States is also against the construction of a gas pipeline, since they are carrying out plans to export LNG to the European Union. In addition, the leaders of Latvia, Lithuania and Poland consider the project politically motivated.
Russia has repeatedly urged not to perceive the pipeline as an instrument of influence. According to Vladimir Putin, Moscow treats the project exclusively as an economic one.
