Russia
cannot find a reliable source for the production of important
components from hydrocarbon fiber for the Avangrad hypersonic missile. This is reported by the portal CNBC, citing sources familiar with the US intelligence report.
According
to their data, the case of a hypersonic device does not withstand
heating when re-entering the dense layers of the atmosphere, which is
why internal systems stop working. "So far, we have seen more ambitious statements about success than real evidence of this," said Pentagon spokesman Eric Paehon.
According
to CNBC, intelligence obtained by the information contradicts the
statements of the Russian authorities about the beginning of the mass
production of hypersonic weapons. However, this program is a priority for Russia and can still be completed by 2020, according to sources of the publication.
About Avangard told Russian President Vladimir Putin March 1, 2018 during a message to the Federal Assembly. According
to the head of state, the complex is able to fly at a speed of 20 times
higher than the speed of sound, while “it goes to the target, like a
meteorite, like a fireball, the temperature on the surface of the
product is 1600-2000 degrees Celsius”, and “the winged unit with this is reliably controlled. ”
Later,
the Ministry of Defense announced the conclusion of a contract for the
mass production of the first batch of hypersonic missiles.
