NATO will conduct dozens of "experiments" on exercises near the Russian borders

NATO plans to conduct about 20 "experiments" during the Trident Juncture (Single Trident, TRJE18), the largest exercise in recent years near the Russian borders, the Alliance said.
Maneuvers will be held from October 25 to November 7 in Norway. About 50 thousand soldiers from 30 countries will take part in them, including not only NATO members, but also partners.

"The exercises will provide an environment for testing, clarifying and further developing existing or new opportunities. By coordinating and integrating the experiments of NATO organizations and countries in TRJE18, NATO seeks to provide the best experimental results without putting the exercises at risk," the command site said.
One of such experiments will be the development of the operational deployment of the coordination-command module for the deployment and control of air forces provided by the allied countries.
On Tuesday, Lieutenant-General of the Norwegian Armed Forces, Rune Jacobsen, said that Sweden and Finland, which are not members of the alliance, would open their airspace for operations within maneuvers.
According to him, the main area of the exercise will be located at a distance of more than a thousand kilometers from the Russian border, and air operations - 500 kilometers.
