During one of
the massive attacks of UAVs on the Russian air base Khmeimim in Syria,
control was carried out from an American reconnaissance aircraft, said
Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin.
"Then 13
unmanned aerial vehicles were sent simultaneously. <...> They were
marching in a single order, guided by a common team, at this time the
American reconnaissance aircraft Poseidon-8 was patrolling in the
Mediterranean for eight hours," in the framework of the Eighth International Siangshan Security Forum in Beijing.
Drones can work both in standalone mode and in manual mode if radio-electronic suppression is in progress.
According to him, bumping into the veil of electronic warfare, drones retreated to receive new teams.
“They
began to be controlled from space and to prompt them to the so-called
holes into which they began to penetrate, and then they were destroyed.
This, too, needs to be stopped,” Fomin concluded.
Use of UAVs in Syria
Terrorists in Syria are actively using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), in particular during attacks on Hamim. Only in August of this year, the base's air defense weapons shot down 47 drones.
The
Defense Ministry has repeatedly pointed out that, despite the
nondescript appearance, modern technologies were used in the UAV:
navigation systems, control and discharge of an explosive device.
According
to the Russian military, this clearly indicates that "some side
possessing the technology of producing such means has provided them to
international terrorist groups."
